Mahuta says NZ water services need protecting

Minister of Local Government Nanaia Mahuta says a new regulatory system is needed to protect the quality of New Zealand's water services.

At a Water Summit in Wellington this morning she made a major speech on the theme of the 'Three Waters'.

The government will be looking into ways to improve drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.

Nanaia says steps need to be made to reduce the risk of another Havelock North tragedy.
