In the last rugby league match at the Coronation celebrations, the clash for the Tonga Mahuta Shield, the holders, Tāmaki Makaurau, took on the challengers, Te Kawau Mārō o Maniapoto.
This was the first time Maniapoto challenged for the shield, and they won easily, 58-28.
