Māori triplets rack up medals at IFMA Youth World Champs

13-year-old Taylor triplets Tokomaru, Tainui and Aotea are putting their hometown of Kāwhia on the world map in the sport of Muay Thai.  Only recently the triplets picked up medals at this year's IFMA Youth World Championships in Thailand, the first set of Māori triplets to do so.

Tokomaru, Tainui and Aotea Taylor are NZ's first set of Māori triplets to compete at an international level and collect medals in one event.

Just recently the triplets participated at the 2016 IFMA Youth World Championships in Thailand. Tokomaru took out the world champion title for his age group meanwhile Aotea claimed two bronze medals and Tainui one bronze medal.

"I could see just from the comparison with the kids that we had, they had the x-factor in almost everything they did", says dad and coach Bevan Taylor. "I was not surprised that they would do so well."

Tokomaru heads into this weekend's Corporate Christmas Cracker fight at Hamilton’s Tihipuke Gym as the competition favourite against 18 year-old opponent Tyler Hepi-Paraha from House of Pain.
