Māori woman detained on drug charges in Bali

37-year-old Leeza Tracey Ormsby is the new face of an alleged drug crime in Bali.

Police documents state that Ormsby was allegedly found with a joint inside her bag.

When Police later searched her villa, they say they found 27 grams of hashish and 132 grams of MDMA.

Leeza was arrested on February 12, just days after the release of Schappelle Corby, who spent nine years in an Indonesian jail after being convicted on drug charges.

Criminal lawyer Jeremy Baioletti, warned it may be a tough road ahead for Leeza.

Leeza was born in Rotorua but listed a Sydney address as her residence.

She uses the name Leeza Morrison on her Linked-In profile page, where she describes herself as a personal trainer.

At this stage, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade are still not offering up any more information on the case, but say NZ officials have touched base with Leeza in Bali as well as providing her with consular support.
