Shade Pihema's passion is youth and her focus is to engage youth in Moerewa positivity and through the youth centre.

The ”Youth Drop In Activity Centre” in Moerewa was under threat of being closed down however last year Shade applied to Vodafone for the World of Difference fund.

Her application was successful and was awarded $100,000 for her contribution to youth work. The money saved the centre.

Shade has been working with young people for fifteen years, she says this centre gives youth the space to be creative, be positive and develop life skills.

"There are loads of people in the community that are offering their skills to their time to teach young people,” says Ms Pihema.
