Matariki on the Waterfront returns to Silo Park

The annual Matariki On The Waterfront celebration will again take place at Silo Park during the last weekend of the Matariki festival.

It's a community event for friends and family on the 17th, 18th and 19th of July and is set to be the single largest Matariki celebration in the country.

Now in its fourth year, the event celebrates our unique Māori tikanga and culture.

In 2014, the combined weekend of events in Silo Park attracted more than 25,000 visitors to the waterfront, and this year is set to be even bigger. Silo Park will be lit up with displays of art and film, complete with music and performances.

The Mighty Matariki Markets will also be in full swing with Māori food and craft offerings.

Traditional Māori art activities will take place within Silo 6, while food trucks, local DJs and the red container bar keep things buzzing.

There's still an opportunity for artists to apply to exhibit in the limited spaces available, If you are interested, you can contact info@silopark.co.nz to submit moving images, installation or light-based artworks.

Entry to all Matariki on the Waterfront events are completely free.
