Homelessness on the rise in Rotorua

“We were just asking around asking friends and family on Facebook and such they said that this is a nice beautiful place to come and start a new life so we took the opportunity to come down here and I know it's not a nice word being homeless but I've felt it now I know what is to feels like.”

Nā ngā awhina a Te Hiranga Tangata mo tētahi wāhi noho, kua pai rāua engari mo tēnei wiki noa iho.

“Hopefully they will see us through till we do find another whare but other than that that's all they have done for me at the moment.”

Hei tā Elmer Peiffer no Lover Soup Rotorua ki a Te Kāea, “We've got working families out there that have been given their 42 day notice and then they have to leave and then all of a sudden they are homeless they want a house and when you have to complete with so many other people even thou you have got jobs you still are very likely to miss out.”

Pērā i Tāmaki Makaurau kei te kī a Love Soup kei te rongo hoki a Rotorua i te iti o ngā whare engari ko ngā whānau rangatahi e rongo ana i ngā taumahatanga.
