More profits for Māori farmers

NZ beef and lamb is one of our biggest export industries.

It's this market, particularly the Asia-Pacific region that Ngāti Kahungunu wants to break into with a new Māori brand.

The iwi has branched out from fisheries into farming with the recent purchase of the Tautāne farm, where they hope to change the face of farming and supply direct to the market.

Higher paying jobs and putting more profit back into the farmers are just some of the benefits they hope to create. The iwi want to see small places like Wairoa flourish once again, but a strategy like this won't be an overnight fix, but a vision for the future.
