The Mt Albert Lions are preparing to get top position at the top of the Fox Memorial competition.
According to their coach Steve Buckingham, “You've got to go out there and win it. You can't wait for it to come to you, so that's what we're going to do, go out there and take it."
The Lions finished second on the table but beat the top of the table Pt Chev Pirates 27-20 two weeks ago to head straight into the grand final this weekend.
Coach Steve says, the team is fresh and rearing to go.
But it’s certain the Pt Chev Pirates isn’t going to give the shield up without a fight. The Pirates walked away with a strong defeat over Papakura in their elimination clash.
The Lions are still hurting from last year's loss and that could be the extra motivation they need to get over the line this year.
