Music is Love - Aotearoa’s first live-stream charity concert

Tomorrow's Music is Love - Hope for the Homeless concert to support Te Puea Marae will be the very first online global telethon to fight homelessness. Organiser and lead singer of Sons of Zion Riapo Panapa, says the opportunity to live stream a quality broadcast event is exciting for all involved.

A night of enjoyment for the families facing hardship and those taking care of them. That's the purpose of the Music is Love - Hope for the Homeless concert.

Organiser Riapo Panapa says there's a serious message as well, “Collectively if the music community can be doing what we're doing, I think that sends a message to the government, you guys can do more. Our people need homes now not next week, not next month, our babies need somewhere to sleep.”

Two weeks ago, a simple Facebook request went out and New Zealand artists including bands Sons of Zion, Three Houses Down, Tomorrow People, Che Fu, Betty-Anne Monga, Annie Crummer, Ria Hall, and Rob Ruha put up their hands in support.

Panapa says, “Everyone is just doing it off their own backs.  We've had some sponsorship from businesses as well, in terms of logistics and putting the show on.”

The concert will be live streamed free to homes around the country and the world to raise awareness for the cause and so the public can donate.

The concert will take place at The Studio on Karangahape Road in Auckland. All proceeds with go to Te Puea Marae.
