The traditional Māori sport of Kī-o-rahi is being taught to students of the Muslim faith, and it's all part of their curriculum, according to PE Teacher Elena Bernardo they're also learning Māori language and waiata Māori too.

Mangere's Zayed College for Muslim Girl's have been holding training sessions with He Oranga Poutama, and trainer Ngawai Rewha is enjoying the challenge of teaching this traditional Māori game to a different culture with different beliefs and protocols,

The girls themselves welcome their new sport with open arms, and are really interested in the Māori culture.
