Native Affairs – Concussion

Jordan Kemp was 17-years-old when he collapsed on a rugby field. Jordan collided with a player.  It was the second concussion he'd suffered that season and it would be the last time his rugby family would see him alive.

While concussion in contact sports is emerging as a world-wide problem, here at home the stats are alarming. Māori players are up to seven times more likely to suffer a concussion and its serious effects.

Native Affairs reporter Oriini Tipene-leach was with Jordan's whānau at his unveiling and spoke to a researcher who is tackling the problem head on.
