Native Affairs - Flag Setup

Tonight on Native Affairs, we are debating the future of the New Zealand flag.

Joining Mihingarangi Forbes on tonight’s very impressive panel is Gisborne Mayor, Meng Liu Foon, Auckland University Law Lecturer Khylee Quince, Return Services Association President, BJ Clark, Māori Land and Treaty Lawyer, Dayle Takitimu and Oxford's first Pacific Island Rhodes Scholar - Associate Professor of Pacific Studies, Damon Salesa.

Who would have thought, a rectangular piece of cloth could stir up so many emotions and such vigorous debate.  The reason for flags in the early days was to identify the origins of sailing ships, these days they're so much more.

They are symbols of Nationhood. Tonight we look at some key moments in our flag's history.
