Native Affairs - Kōwhiri 14, Hauraki-Waikato Part 2

The Native Affairs – Kōwhiri 14 Māori Electorate Debate special continues and joining Mihingarangi Forbes in studio are the three leading candidates vying for the seat.

Incumbent Labour MP, Nanaia Mahuta, Angeline Greensill of the MANA Movement and Susan Cullen of the Māori Party are fronting up to debate the big issues.

We also reveal the first set of Māori Television Reid Research Poll results for the Hauraki-Waikato region.

First, Native Affairs visits a town north of the Bombays, Pukekohe which is known better for its potatoes than its political views.  Following speaking with grassroots voters in the electorate, the candidates were asked how they can get people to feel like they are a part of the political process?

Also, in the first set of poll results participants were asked, if the Māori Party held the balance of power, would you prefer they went into partnership with a National-led or Labour-led coalition?

20% of participants would prefer a National-led coalition, while a whopping 68% would rather see the Māori Party work in a Labour-led coalition.

12% say they don't know or other.
