Native Affairs - A League of His Own

Although this season is one the Warriors would rather forget, missing out on making the NRL finals, it's been glorious for prop Suaia Matagi.

Named 2012 Domestic Player of the Year, Matagi got the call up to play professionally for the Warriors in May this year.

But what many don't know is that at 15 years of age, Matagi was an alcoholic, and until his debut for the Te Atatu Roosters in 2007, he'd never played a game of league in his life.

Now at 25 years of age, Suaia's left his demons in the dust, and as Ruwani Perera discovered, his success is a testament to his tenacity.
