Native Affairs - Mr Tuna

76-year-old Bill Kerrison is known in the Bay of Plenty as 'The Tuna Man.'

Over the past thirty years he's helped trap and transfer more than 30 million elvers over the Matahina Dam near Murupara.

He has brought thousands of adult eels downstream, giving them a head start on their way to the spawning grounds in the Pacific near Tonga.

Now he's hoping a new generation of people will eventually take over his work of saving this fragile species.
