When you're homeless a car sometimes is the next best thing.  That's been the case for a number of young pregnant mums living in Auckland.

Homeless shelters and Emergency Housing Centres say they're at crisis point while an Auckland council report shows around fifteen thousand people in Auckland are quote "severely housing deprived".

The Government says it's new Social Housing reforms which came into effect in April are part of a wider programme to improve the diversity of social housing in NZ, and it says it'll make it more accessible for people most in need. But homeless shelters believe the reforms aren't the solution.

Our reporter, Semiramis Holland investigates why some people have become so desperate.
