Native Affairs - Power Play - Part 3

In Parts One and Two of tonight’s investigation we saw the story of the whānau in the King Country who are up in arms over the cost of accessing the power lines in their region. People are going without power, and marae and businesses are struggling.

Earlier Billie Jo Hohepa-Ropiha spoke with Carl Hansen, CEO of the Electricity Authority, who is charged with regulating the electricity industry.

Billie Jo asked Mr Hansen if he thought the pricing system used by the lines company was fair.

Ward Kamo also spoke to Adrian Rurawhe, the Labour MP for Te Tai Hauāuru, which covers part of the affected region.
