Native Affairs - Soul Food

She's known as the Soup Lady.  Debbie Munro is a one-woman campaign offering food and sustenance to those who can't always manage to feed themselves.

Several nights of the week she's out on the streets of South Auckland, and she knows how tough it can be for some of the estimated 270,000 children who live in poverty.

The Children's Commissioner and other agencies are focused on the problem.

In the meantime, as Ruwani Perera reports, Debbie Munroe's doing what she can.

If you want to find out more about how you can help, visit Debbie's Facebook page, 'United We Stand Rewa'.

Debbie has organised a Free family fun day on Saturday November 1st at Waimahia Intermediate at Clendon Park, from 11 am, and as the name says everything will be entirely free.
