Native Affairs - Studio Panel

It’s been a busy old weekend in Politics. The Māori Party has announced two candidates to contest the upcoming Election.

Controversial business woman Susan Cullen will run in Hauraki-Waikato.

Cullen's companies earned $74.2 million in five years from Te Wananga o Aotearoa while her father Rongo Wetere was CEO.

In Auckland the party has selected South Auckland community stalwart Tunuiarangi McLean to contest the Tāmaki Makaurau seat.

Meanwhile, Labour has confirmed teacher and local board member Will Flavell and former TVNZ head of Māori and Pacific Programmes Shane Taurima will seek the nomination for Tāmaki Makaurau.

Taurima resigned in February after it was revealed he'd used TVNZ offices and resources to host Lābour Party meetings.

The findings of an investigation into the controversy have yet to be released.

Labour says he will require a waiver as he wasn’t a member of the party for a year before the nomination opened.

And in other news the woman who popularised the phrase 'sensitive sausage' justice minister Judith Collins has turned her wrath on the parliamentary press gallery in a bizarre interview with TV3.

To discuss all of this Mihingarangi Forbes is joined by political commentators Morgan Godfery and Ngarimu Blair and from Wellington by TV3 political reporter Tova O'Brien.
