Native Affairs Summer Series – Just us

It's a powerful story of injustice. Fifteen years ago, three young girls were sent to jail for aggravated robbery. A crime they didn't commit. Luci Akatere was 15 years old. Her co-accused Tania Vini and McCushla Fuataha were just 14.

In 2001 the Court of Appeal overturned their convictions and said that they had the Court's sympathy for the injustice that had wrongly sent them to prison. For the first time in a decade, Luci and Tania came together last year.  It's an emotional reunion that they shared with Native Affairs, as they attempt to put the pieces of their lives back together again.
