Native Affairs Summer Series – A Single Issue

With 2016 just around the corner, for some of you quitting smoking will be high on the New Year's resolutions list, and for one group of Māori women they're ruing the day they started, after allegedly being sold single cigarettes.

The sale of individual cigarettes is illegal, but some dairy owners are openly flouting the law and selling them one at time. The illicit sales have outraged a group of young Māori women who are campaigning to stop the practice.
