Native Affairs - Te Tarata

Over the weekend tribes from across the country gathered in Ōpotiki to mark the 150th commemoration of the battle at Te Tarata pā.

The battle saw the confiscation of 144,000 acres of Te Whakatōhea land, with many killed in the crossfire.
