Native Affairs - Tribute to Parekura Horomia

The former manual labourer entered Parliament in 1999 and held the position of Minister of Māori Affairs during some of the most politically turbulent times of the last decade, including during the Foreshore and Seabed legislation and the establishment of Māori Television.

But through it all, Parekura managed to remain one of our most popular and well-loved Māori MPs.

Over the last few days, his dear friend and Labour Party colleague Shane Jones, spent some time at home with Parekura and he joined Native Affairs to talk about this huge loss Māoridom has suffered.
