New drift track for Whangarei petrol heads

There's no one better than FangaDan, NZ national drift king to show the skills that have taken him to the top of NZ's professional drifting competition.

The first meeting of its type, over 300 people turned out after learning of it via Facebook, and low and behold, a good number of drivers looking to compete, are Māori.

The region has long been a haven for petrol-heads, with many Whangārei residents fed up with hearing their noise in the streets after dark.

Now, local businessman, Tony Davies, has allowed this vacant carpark to be used as a base for drifting, and who knows, maybe it will produce another national drift king.

Due to its popularity, organisers are looking to make the drift-khana a regular event.
