New location for Auckland Lantern Festival

The Auckland Lantern Festival will be set in a new location this year, moving from Albert Park to the Auckland Domain.

This year marks 16 years since its inception. The Auckland Lantern Festival is now the largest Chinese cultural event in the country.

The event starts on Thursday 18 February. All the lanterns will be lit for viewing without performances or stalls operating. Its runs from 7pm to 10.30pm.

The full festival programme, with performances as well as food and craft stalls, runs from 5pm to 10.30pm, Friday to Sunday, with fireworks onsite at 10.15pm.

People who wish to attend must note that there are a number of road closures and parking restrictions in place. The Auckland lantern festival will run from Thursday 18 February to Friday 21 February.
