Our Matariki unsung hero for tonight is Fred Baker who has been involved at the Pōneke Rugby Club in Kilbirnie for 40 years.
A lifetime member, Fred has been instrumental in the club's successes throughout the years.
You could mistake him as a coach due to his commitment to the club, however, he is regarded as the club's backbone.
He has held down many of the voluntary jobs whether it be water boy, preparing the uniforms or welcoming visitors.
