Ngāpuhi Festival kicks off with art exhibition, Te Pū o Te Wheke

The welcome call from Ngāpuhi was extended to the many artists who've provided works for the art exhibition at last night’s Ngāpuhi Festival art exhibition entitled Te Pū o Te Wheke.

The first biennial Ngāpuhi Festival event was in 2006 and the art exhibition is in its eighth year.

Artists from NZ and the world took part in the conference to create new works to be displayed at the festival.

One of the organisers of Te Pū o Te Wheke, Coleen Waata-Urlich, says the combination of works from the artists has resulted in the wonderful exhibition, and adds they'll find it hard to beat in the future.
