Ngāti Toa win Men’s Māori Basketball Championships final

It was a great start for Waikato-Tainui heading into the match.  However, Ngāti Toa, runners-up at last year’s tournament showed that they weren't about to repeat last year’s mistakes.

By the end of the first quarter, Ngāti Toa were ahead by 12 points.

The youngsters from Waikato-Tainui put up a good fight however Ngāti Toa proved their skill and experience was second to none, leading 36-52 at half-time.

Ngāti Toa once again dominated in the second half of the match.  Waikato-Tainui tried their hardest to defend their opposition, but Ngāti Toa prevailed leaving the score 39-63 at the end of the third quarter.

Both teams fought hard to the very end, however, it was Wellington-based team Ngāti Toa, who came out on top, 64-99.
