NITV to launch free-to-air service

NITV first launched in 2007 and was initially only available via pay TV, but in July this year, NITV integrated with SBS and the team have spent the past five months building programming, including integrating their news team.

NITV’s staff are excited as tomorrow will be the first time their channel will broadcast free-to-air throughout Australia.

NITV’s Channel Manager, Tanya Denning, gave her team a pep talk today to calm the nerves before tomorrow's big launch.

Māori Television’s GM of News and Current Affairs Te Anga Nathan has been in Australia for the last month helping NITV to prepare for the launch.

He says it reminds him of when Māori Television was launched back in 2004.
