No new CEO for Māori TV

The seven board members couldn't reach a unanimous decision, therefore no new CEO has been appointed for Māori Television.

The Chair, Ms Te Heuheu, and the remaining board members, along with Māori Television's shareholders are now thinking about what's next.

Ian Taylor, a former board member who tendered his resignation as director just two weeks ago, says this situation should never have occurred.

Last week, Labour fired questions pertaining to claims about the Māori Television CEO Recruitment process.

One of those claims suggested Ms Te Heuheu overturned a decision made by the recruitment company that former TVNZ Head of Māori and Pacific Programming, Paora Maxwell, was not suitable for the position of CEO.

In terms of the appointment, an announcement will be made soon on an interim CEO to replace Jim Mather.
