NZ 3x3 Youth teams off to Worlds

3X3 is Basketball's version of Rugby Sevens, a super fast game that provides a real spectacle.

Today the NZ men's and women's youth teams ran through their final paces before they head off tomorrow for the FIBA 3X3 Youth World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The men's team would love to repeat the success of NZ's 2011 team, but they will first have to get past the likes of France and Lithuania in their pool matches who are two heavyweights of 3X3.

This will be the first time for the women's team in the international arena, and the women's coach believes she has a competitive squad which will not only do well but also counter the no-coaching rule during game time.

In addition, 3X3 is an extremely entertaining sport, and FIBA is working on Olympics.

The tournament kicks off for these teams on Thursday next in Jakarta.
