NZ Black Sticks Women's topple England

When the Black Sticks lined up against England in the Champions Trophy Women's Hockey quarterfinals this morning, the team were keen to avoid a repeat of the last time they met.

England denied them a place in the final at the Glasgow Commonwealth and this morning the Black Sticks made sure they wouldn't lose.

New Zealand had the first opportunity to score against England, but couldn't make contact.

Five minutes later, they were back in England's territory and made sure to make it count this time.

England didn't let New Zealand celebrate their first goal for too long though, coming back to even out the score.

In the second quarter, Anita Punt made sure to put her team in front, scoring a penalty goal.

With no scoring in the third quarter, New Zealand came back in the fourth to secure their third goal with 11 minutes remaining in the match.

With 40 seconds to go, England could have come back within one point but New Zealand was too strong, winning the match 3-1.
