NZ charging forward at Pacific Games

New Zealand has had another podium finish in weightlifting and the New Zealand U23 football side took on New Caledonia.

Ngāti Whātua and Ngāpuhi descendant, Te Atawhai Hudson-Wihongi kicked the match off with a header.

New Caledonia had the opportunity to strike back with this penalty, but goal keeper Max Crocombe showed his defensive skill.

Shortly after, his offensive skills were on display setting up Logan Rogerson (Tainui).

In the second half, the flood gates opened for New Zealand.

Rogerson finished off the match after securing his hat-trick.  Final score 5-0.

In weightlifting, Ruth Anderson-Horrell represented New Zealand.  With a 78kg snatch and 100kg clean and jerk, she finished third with a total of 176kg for the event.

Earning New Zealand's fourth bronze medal at the games.
