NZ delegation join the 12th Pacific Arts Festival

The New Zealand delegation was treated to a traditional welcome from the Chamorro people in Guam as they arrived for the 12th Pacific Arts Festival.

Close to 100 members of the delegation left New Zealand and are now staying at the Okkodo High School

Frank Radon of the Chamorro says it was an honour to welcome everyone, “Despite our regional uniqueness the commonality is that we are all part of the pacific region which encompasses our seafaring ancestors as well as the traditional practices that our ancestors have bestrode upon us over many thousands of years ago.”

Over the next few days, the NZ artists and performers will be given the opportunity to perform and collaborate with others but for now, they are content in settling in.

The 12th Pacific Arts Festival begins tomorrow with a dawn ceremony.  The event brings together 2500 performers from around the Pacific.
