New Zealand First is supporting the fast-tracking of a Resource Management Act amendment bill that would allow Auckland Council the right to access double the amount of water it can take from the Waikato River.
Due to the long-lasting drought in Auckland, the council is calling for an urgent decision and Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones says it's time this bill is passed.
