NZ Women's Sevens team announced

The NZ Women's Sevens team has been announced.  The team will travel to Canada this week to participate in the fourth round of the World Rugby Women's Seven Series.

Congratulations are in order for Gayle Broughton of Ngāruahine and Carla Hohepa of Waikato, Tainui.

Carla Hohepa says, “It's good to be back. I've been out injured for the last two tournaments, so I'm just ready to get back out with the girls.”

Gayle Broughton says, “It's an awesome feeling to be back in this environment. I got injured in the the series before the series just gone, so it was a hard blow.”

Both players are coming in as replacements for the 12-strong team travelling to Canada on Sunday.

There are three changes from the side that won in Atlanta last month. Hohepa and Scanlan return to the forwards and Broughton returns to the backs.

Broughton says, “I've never been to Canada so this should be a very interesting trip.”

Carla Hohepa, “It's another stepping stone to cementing our place in the Olympus for next year, so for us it's about sticking to what we know and making sure that we come out with the outcome that we want.”

The fourth round of the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series kicks off next week, with New Zealand's first game set for 7:06am Saturday against Fiji.
