Olympics- women's sevens settle for silver

The first try went to Kayla McCallister.  However, it wasn't long before Australia came back with a controversial try.  Australia dominated the ball for most of the first half, but just when it looked like a turnover to NZ, powerhouse Portia Woodman was handed a yellow card. Another try before half time saw the Aussies extend their lead. 10-5 half time.

Intensity lifted in the second half. Australia came back with another try. An unfortunate knock-on to Woodman just as she took to the field, and Australia continued to capitalise. 2 minutes left on the clock and Kayla McCallister came back for NZ with a second try. With the score at 24-10 in the final minute, it was clear to see it was a silver medal for the women in black. Woodman had the final say getting in another try for NZ at full time and a converted kick by Tyla Nathan-Wong.

Final score: 24-17 to Australia.
