Online extra – MMA fighter Young confident in securing UFC contract.

MMA fighter Shane Young has a one year plan that will see him become the first Māori fighter from New Zealand to enter the Featherweight UFC division.

The XFC featherweight champion is on a path to the biggest stage in MMA history, and he has the support of UFC fighter Dan Hooker.

Young is twelve days away from taking on Siitia Leti on the 1st of October at the Brace43 Event in Christchurch.

The featherweight fighter has a combined fight record of twenty four fights professionally and in the Amateur division. His professional record is ten MMA fights with eight wins.

Young is the XFC Champion and is currently in negotiations to confirm a date for a title defence end of the year in Australia.

At the age of 14 years-old he was first introduced to fight sports. He has a background in wrestling and has a blue belt in Brazilian Jujitsu.
