Today it was announced that Paora Maxwell has been appointed as the new CEO for Maori Television.
This decision has been controversial as claims have been made against the Maori TV board and the recruitment process. However today the board stood united behind their decision and hope for a bright future for Maori TV as they celebrate their 10th birthday tomorrow.
Unanimous in their decision, the MTS board were visually undivided as their Chair Georgina Te Heuheu, announced who has Maori Televisions top job
Te Heuheu followed on to deny any claims that the board's CEO appointment process which resulted in Maxwell securing the role, was flawed
Furthermore there were explanations as to why the MTS board chose not to take up an offer from TVNZ CE, Kevin Kendrick, to explain Maxwell's resignation as GM of TVNZ's Māori and Pacifc Unit last year.
However Maxwell is adamant that there is only room for moving onwards and upwards from this point, for both him and his staff.
In accordance with that notion, Maori television will celebrate tomorrow, 10 years of existence, work and broadcasting.
