Paora Maxwell officially welcomed into new role

A service was conducted to bless Maori Television's throne for its new CEO.

Before Maxwell arrived at his new work base, the call of welcoming from Te Puea Marae, the people of Waikato-Tainui and Māori Television was extended to the man of the hour who was officially given over by his people of Te Arawa.

Although issues of conflict of interest pertaining to Paora Maxwell arose during the selection process to appoint a new CEO following the departure of former CEO Jim Mather of Ngāti Awa, Maxwell says his family and tribe are behind him and he is not fazed by those past issues/concerns.

Maxwell says he wants to strengthen Māori Television's capabilities, to be an exclusive and outstanding indigenous station of the world, to be the best indigenous station of the world.
