Poverty numbers fall but Māori and Pasifika still hit hardest

Child poverty levels have fallen but, according to Statistics NZ, Māori and Pasifika families are still being hit the hardest, with one in four Pasifika children and one in five Māori children meeting the criteria for material hardship.

Households with disabilities are also twice as likely to be living in impoverished situations in comparison with Pākehā.
