Professor Rangi Mataamua on Māori astronomy

The ancient practice of deciding what each month of the year meant for Māori involved extensive study and analysis of the earth's orbit around the sun, of astronomy, of flora and fauna and meteorology.

Those studies are now being highlighted online by Māori astronomer Professor Rangi Mataamua.

Earlier today Te Ao Mārama talked to him about why he is focusing on this area of  Māori knowledge.
