Public submissions sought for State care abuse inquiry

The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in State Care is welcoming submissions from the public on draft terms of reference to define its scope and structures.

Chair of the Royal Commission Sir Anand Satyanand says state care abuse is a stain on New Zealand's history.

Once the terms are finalised, the Royal Commission can begin the process of hearing evidence and investigating ways to prevent further abuse.

Submissions close at the end of April.
