Puppets bring The Whale Rider story to the stage

This is Witi Ihimaera's famous story of the chiefly mantle of Paikea, the Whale Rider, and his descendants who preceded him through the generations.

They were all male until the birth of Kahu, a female.

Tim Bray Productions adapted the story for the stage.

It's suitable for children and is a great way to celebrate Matariki.

This is the show's final week in Auckland.

The Whale Rider will tour Northland, from Kaitaia to Kerikeri and Whangarei.
