Based in Palmerston North and Ashhurst, Te Tū Mataora kapa haka formed in November 2007 around a barbeque at Ashhurst Domain.
Te Tū Mataora is a whānau-orientated collective that is strengthened by a vision to share, preserve and appreciate traditional customs of our Kāhuiruamahu.
Te Tū Mataora is fortunate to have participated at the 2008, 2010 and 2011 Mata-Waiora Regional Competition. In 2009 and 2013, Te Tū Mataora respectfully participated at Te Matatini.
This whānau is brought together by a common desire to protect, maintain, and uphold endowments of Māoridom. They endeavour to embrace their lineage and affinity to their tūrangawaewae, whakapapa, and cultural responsibilities.
Their leaders today are Te Utanga Tautuhi, and Tina Blake-Ponga.
Here is their whakaeke!
