Game one of State of Origin about to kick off

In about four hours' time, Game One of the State of Origin series will kick off and the NSW team is looking to break a seven year losing streak at the hands of Queensland, but with Maroons' star players, Johnathan Thurston and Darius Boyd being cleared to play, the Blues may have a hard task ahead of them.

Like always, the start to the 2013 State of Origin series will be an unrelenting encounter, even with the shoulder charge now banned.

NSW is aiming to break a seven year losing streak and with Game One taking place at ANZ Stadium in Sydney, it will give the Blues the home advantage.

Like last year, Blues captain Paul Gallen has been troubled by a knee injury and hasn't played league for four weeks, but he feels fresher this year.

With Johnathan Thurston and Darius Boyd rejoining their Queensland team mates at training yesterday, the side has been boosted in strength, and the sledging has begun.

Despite that confidence and the Maroons' record, they will have to stay focussed as they haven't beaten the Blues at ANZ Stadium since 2010.
