Ngāi Tahu has made it their mission to continue sending food and water to people who are still stuck in Kaikoura.  Some people have already arrived by helicopter to Cheviot - 55 minutes from Kaikoura. Read more here.

And the USS Sampson is the first American warship to enter New Zealand since the nuclear-free policy of 1984.  The warship, initially intended to attend the NZ Navy's 75th anniversary ceremonies, has been diverted to assist with the Kaikoura earthquake.  The move comes as peace activists attempt to blockade a major weapons expo in Auckland.  Read more here.
