Ngāi Tahu has made it their mission to continue sending food and water to people who are still stuck in Kaikoura. Some people have already arrived by helicopter to Cheviot - 55 minutes from Kaikoura. Read more here.
And the USS Sampson is the first American warship to enter New Zealand since the nuclear-free policy of 1984. The warship, initially intended to attend the NZ Navy's 75th anniversary ceremonies, has been diverted to assist with the Kaikoura earthquake.
