Respects paid to Māori educationalist Toni Waho

updated By Te Kuru o te Marama Dewes

Hundreds have gathered at Tirorangi marae today where the late Toni Waho lies in state.

Te Rūnanga o Ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori paid their respects yesterday.

Mr Waho (Ngāti Rangi, Te Ati Hau-Nui-a-Parangi, Ngāti Apa, Ngāti Kahungunu, Waikato) was a lifetime advocate and staunch change-agent who contributed immensely to the creation and development of immersion Māori language education.

More to come.
