Salvation Army encourages people to vote

It's that time of year again, residential fences and billboards of politicians are a familiar sight and with only seven weeks until elections, the politicians are working hard to win over the voters.

According to Campbell Roberts, “They vote on personalities rather than issues.  A Government is about issue, it's about what's going to happen in our country over the next three years.”

The Salvation Army is trying to remind people to vote based on a Party's policies and not their leader.

Alan Johnson states, “I think we're increasingly getting a presidential style campaign where it's all about leadership and it's become a distraction. We need to think about the issues that are going to affect our children.”

The Salvation Army launches their election video in Papakura tonight. It is one of five issues they will be highlighting this week.
